Lisa White, Owner/Trainer
Lisa White is the founder and trainer for
Mountain-Pups Dog Training. Although Mountain-Pups is a new
business for Lisa, she has been involved with the care and training of dogs
since she was a little girl.
In fact,
she often
recounts the tale of being bitten (mildly) by her grandfather's old dog,
“Bimbo.”
Although Bimbo was safely locked away in the back yard, Lisa, even at the early
age of 3, was determined to get up close and personal. So when no one was
watching, she snuck to the back yard
for a quick greeting. Ouch! There it was, a quick bite on an outreached
hand. And no one was ever
the wiser, as she never told a soul until many, many years later. She
started training dogs not too
many years after that incident and credits her grandfather for fostering her
love of, and respect for, dogs.
So from an early age, training dogs and studying their behavior has been an avid interest for Lisa. She loves the problem-solving aspect of dog training. After leaving the corporate hustle and bustle some years ago, she decided to turn her passion for dogs and their behavior into her business. Lisa completed her formal training in 2005 when she graduated and received certification from Animal Behavior College. She then went to work as a trainer for Kindred Spirit Dog Training. Lisa also volunteers at local shelters and fosters and trains dogs for local animal rescue groups.
Lisa is a long time resident of the Santa Cruz Mountains. She currently shares a den with her pack including: husband, Mike, 3 wonderful children, Bryan, Megan and Emily, dog, Breezy and 4 cats, Dora, Zelda, Archer and Mojo.
Lisa is a professional member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers and an associate member of the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants. In addition she is also a member of two local trainer’s groups, South Bay Trainers and Santa Cruz Area Trainers. Lisa is committed to keeping up with the latest innovations in training and behavior and regularly attends lectures, workshops and conferences.
